Week 13 - Elders... Elders... You doin too much.

Another week has passed. Have you? I sure hope not. Jk I don't care, alive or dead we all ball

So hm Thanksgiving happened! Our power went out for the whole city for the whole day and that was a huge deal especially cus we can't cook Thanksgiving dinner! Luckily the other Sœurs already cooked stuff. And the elders went and bought us food. The power came back on though at the end of the day just as the elders were leaving from giving us food (and we all said what we're grateful for) and all 5 of us sisters were manic. IT WAS SO FUNNY SŒUR TOUSSAINT DROPPED TO HER KNEES AND WAS Screaming "PRAISE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! " and "LIBÉREZ LA FRANCE!" which means "FREE FRANCE!" then she raised her fist up, still on her knees and said "LIGHT THE WORLD!" IT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING EVER

So yeah Thanksgiving was freaking awesome and it was Sœur Toussaint and Sœur Monteiros first Thanksgiving! Cus they're French. If you're surprised by that, please open a history book and read about Thanksgiving. But yeah! They loved it!

Oh another thing

You may say I'm a complainer

You may shake your head and say "oh that silly girl, one day she'll grow to love the bikes, she will learn lessons"

WELL LET ME TELL YOU HOW WRONG YOU ARE!!!!

BECAUSE OUR MISSION PRESIDENT FOUND OUT ABOUT OUR (SŒUR TOUSSAINT AND MINE) BIKE SITUATION AND HOW MUCH WE BIKE AND HOW FAR WE BIKE

SO HE FLEW OUT TO OUR ISLAND and he called a special meeting on Saturday and said "the sisters should NOT be biking like this. They will not be biking an hour to church especially on the highway." etc etc. So NOW we're switching houses with the elders of petit bourg and we're getting a car!!! So yeah... A mid transfer transfer you could say.

Oh and it's  not a " the sisters can't do it but the elders can" thing, we're switching because there are OTHER elders who live 2 minutes away from us who drive a van, but they can only drive other elders SO they will now be able to all drive TOGETHER. So yeah nobody will be biking the way I have been since I got here. PRESIDENT SAID SO!!!

So yeah President flying out and switching our area mid transfer should say something about the bike situation. Things I personally will not say.

But worry ye not

Zone leader said we'll still be able to teach the people we meet with now so yeah no worries.

But yeah Sœur Toussaint are starting fresh.... Basically whitewashing... Again! Wooo

Don't look for signs to see God's mercy. Just live and know it's there. If you look ONLY for signs, you limit the way you can see God's power.

This is the true Gospel. The worst mistake you can make is believing Satan that it's not true

Week 12 - Mais ça va

This week was cool, to quote Sœur Toussaint, "ça c'est Père Céleste!" oui, toujours. It's really cool to teach Haitians and sit there while Sœur Toussaint speaks to them in creole, and then on the stuff I don't understand (cus creole has a lot of French in it so I can understand a lot) she translates the creole to me into French and then I'll add in in French (with random creole words I know, mwen renmen Bondye!) and she translates it back to creole. IT'S WILD! 

I SAVED A BAYBEE KITTIES LIFE AND THEN HE TRIED TO FOLLOW ME HOME AND WAS MEWING TO ME, AND WAS RUNNING TO KEEP UP AND I WAS SOBBING CUS I CAN'T KEEP HIM CUS MON OBJECTIF MISSIONAIRE !!! I CAN'T KEEP A CAT! It was awful. 

It's cool to study about bodies. There is a lot of power in them, as they're gifts from God. Think about the most serious sins... Heavenly Father is extremely concerned with how we get into this world and also how we get out. 

what a cool dynamic to be teaching English with an American elder to Guadeloupeans, and our companions are sitting with them, elder Tihopu  (Tahitian) learning English and Sœur Toussaint (French) too, and Elder Herr (Swiss) correcting people with his British English and translating cus both French and English are his first LANGUAGES. LANGUAGES ARE SICK

Everyone's doin great, everyone's coming or trying to come to church, miracles always happen.

ACTUALLY! Miracles literally never stop. There's millions billions trillions. Basically life itself is natrually one huge miracle, and sometimes we recognize that it is and then say "wow look a miracle!" that's like sitting in the ocean and seeing a drop of rain and saying "wow look water!" just because the water from the raindrop came in a different form doesn't mean everydrop in the ocean isn't as special!!! Every second is a miracle. Life is precious

Week 11 - The end of the beginning

Hello every body

Well well well

This past week was very very VERY miraculous, just as every other week in life is, but some weeks we just don't let ourselves see it.

Okay so my old companion, sœur Frey left to French Guiana this week; she's been on her mission for about 11 months and she spent her WHOLE time on Guadeloupe, so she's the one who runs this place. But now she's gone. And I am still in training. And I received a new companion, sœur Toussaint, who has never been on Guadeloupe. So it is the trainee, myself, who is training the trainer. She's been out for about 8 months I think? Idk but it's fun and we're figuring it all out together.

We had a lesson with Véronique! It was craaaazy. When we started the lesson, Véronique had her Book of Mormon READY and shared a scripture with us before we could with her! She said that she was reading, then felt like she just wanted to skip ahead. So she ended up in Mormon 7. She told us when she read verses 5-7, she started crying. Then she said it made her remember me, and the way I cried last week and didn't have the words to answer her question of "what's is this Gospel for you? What has it done for you?". THEN she said that she KNEW the answer, she said it was joy! And she said SHE felt that joy! And then she said she knew that the words in the Book of Mormon are true. IT WAS SO SICK and yeah there was a lot more crazy miracles with that to. For example, she and Eléonore (her daughter) came to church let's gooo

The other day I was biking home from church and this guy on a motorcycle caught up to me and kinda got me alone by cornering me ish and was trying to talk to me and then I saw this house with people in their porch place area thing so I just stopped right in front of their house and walked up to them right into their house as if we were best friends and gave them the warmest greeting ever (so as to avoid the guy) and didn't introduce myself or anything, just pretended like I knew them and then Sœur Toussaint caught up to me and I introduced her to them and they were totally into it. Cus they're Haitian Elect let's goooo. We gave them a book of Mormon (in Créole, cus the spirit this morning told me to bring a créole book of Mormon with me) and scheduled a lesson with them all in about 3 minutes. Then we left and as we rode away, I said to Sœur Toussaint "guess what" she said "what" I said "I had no idea who those people were" she was like "WHAT! I THOUGHT YOU KNEW THEM!". Basically, we all should just pretend we know each other because turns out we do. You ever feel scared to reach out to someone cus you don't feel close enough? Ever feel like it might be weird to do an act of service? Uhhh no. If I can walk into someone's house like I own the place and talk to the family in it as if they're my oldest friends, with no explanation, all to share the Gospel, you all can act on the little promptings you get. Ez money I tell you. DO IT. 

What else..... 

Hm well just the spirit I guess. The spirit tells me a lot of things. And then I act. We found like 5 people to share the Gospel with... And they all are a 1 minute walk away from our house AND THEY ARE ALL HAITIANS!!! Oh and yeah Sœur Toussaints parents are Haitian so shes fluent in creole! So yeah. I've been wanting to learn creole for the benefit of others and so God is making it happen

Week 10 - Choose to UNFOLD the mysteries of God

Hello everybody all is well

1) I prayed and studied for hours to be able to open my mouth and have God's words be there when in taught Veronique. And I knew it would happen. Then I did it and I opened my mouth when she asked what the Gospel has meant to me in my life... No words. I just cried cus I was overcome with the spirit. Then later I prayed and asked God why His words werent there! He told me that His words were there the whole time, sitting in Veronique's hands. The Book of Mormon. My tears were just a testimony of them. That was sick. BTW she's read up til 1 Néphi 8 all on her own. Insane. 

2)transfers are happening! I'm staying in Guadeloupe. Lamentin area. Sœur Frey is leaving to the pits! She's headed down to French Guiana. My new trainer will be Sœur Toussaint, she's from France so she's a native French speaker AND her parents are Haitian so she's fluent in Créole! So my prayers have been answered and I have a way to excel in both French and Haitian Créole. And.... It's weird cus I'm still in training but km gonna be leading out my area??? The trainee trains the trainer 

3) go study about women's roles. I don't care if you think the church is sexist, I don't care if you yourself are sexist, I don't care if you have the strongest testimony about gender roles, I don't care about your personal view of anything. I'm telling you to go learn. Go open gospel library right now and look up stuff about women. Howard W Hunter has good teachings. Seek to understand and you will. It's literally impossible for God to withhold revealing the truths of His Gospel to those who are ready to receive them. Put in the effort to be ready to receive the truths and they'll come. That's called a testimony baby

4) pday today was good we did a hike and played ultimate Frisbee and Elder Duke, elder Ambrus, and myself dominated

5) go on a mission. Stop living your own will and do God's will. Go on a mission

6) I bought a ukelele! 

7) the rain here in rainy season is no joke. But it's never cold!!! Happy Caribbean life
